One of the biggest stories coming out of this year's Comic-Con was the groundbreaking introduction of the first female Doctor in the history of the Doctor Who franchise, and the first trailer introducing her has us very excited to be part of history. Seriously, this is a big deal!

"All of this is new to me," Jodie Whittaker says in the trailer, which was released during the BBC show's panel. "New faces, new worlds, new times. So if I asked, really, really nicely, would you be my new best friends?"

YES.

Whittaker made a brief appearance as the new Doctor this weekend in a quick teaser that debuted during the World Cup, but this is our first real look at her in action. She takes over for Peter Capaldi, who left as the twelfth Doctor last year.

During the Doctor Who panel, Whittaker showed off her new Sonic Screwdriver, and the crowd obviously went nuts.
