PUNE: The Khadak police on Wednesday arrested a man who was on the run after being booked in a murder attempt case.
Police identified the suspect as Ajinkya Suresh Shinde (22) of Lohiynagar. The Khadak police team led by senior inspector Rajendra Mokashi made the
arrest on a tip-off received by police constable Ashish Chavan.
Mokashi said that on Wednesday a team of Khadak police comprising assistant inspector Vaibhav Pawar, police constables Vinod Jadhav, Ravi Lokhande and Chavan were patrolling in the jurisdiction when Chavan got a tip-off that the suspect Shinde would be coming at Ghorpade Peth. “Our team went to Ghorpade Peth and took Shinde into custody,” Mokashi said.
He said that during the questioning Shinde admitted that he had assaulted one person near Sarasbaug about a month ago. “We had already registered a case of murder attempt under section 307 and rioting with our police station,” Mokashi said.
The investigations have also revealed that Shinde had been externed from city and
district for the period of one year by the deputy commissioner (zone-I) Badavraj Teli. “We have also registered an offence of violating the externment order against Shinde,” Mokashi said adding, “Our probe is on.”
