GREATER NOIDA: District magistrate B N Singh has ordered a 10-point
magisterial inquiry into the Shahberi twin building fall under ADM Kumar Vineet who is to submit a report in 15 days. “On July 17, 2018 two buildings – one under construction and another newly built - suddenly collapsed around 9pm in Shahberi village under Dadri tehsil of district Gautam Budh Nagar. This resulted in the death of some people who got trapped in the debris. The incident is extremely serious. Based on facts obtained, I feel the need for a magisterial inquiry into the matter under ADM Kumar Vineet who will submit his report in 15 days’ time,” said B N Singh, district magistrate Gautam Budh Nagar.
The inquiry is to look into 10 areas/categories such as what led to the incident, whether the twin buildings fell under designated Greater Noida authority, and if yes, then was the required no objection certificate procured from the authority for the construction of the building, whether requisite safeguards were followed in the construction, whether labour deployed was listed under labour laws and more.
Other aspects on which the inquiry is to be held include - was the construction material used for the building tested for its quality, who’s responsible for the quality of construction, does the said incident (which resulted in the death of people) come under criminal negligence category, did Authority’s building construction department take any meaningful efforts to stop unauthorised constructions in the area – if yes, then what are the results of those steps and suggestions to stop such incidents.
“I have been told to hold a magisterial inquiry into the incident and submit a report in 15 days by the district magistrate who has taken serious note of the incident. The grounds/areas on which the inquiry to be held include above mentioned 10 points/criteria,” ADM Kumar Vineet told TOI.
A copy of DM Singh’s order has also been sent to SSP, city magistrate, officer in-charge JA 1 Gautam Budh Nagar, and police station in-charge Bisrakh.
