Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday said the issue of formalin-laced fish sold in Goa is primarily an economic issue.

“The government can easily take care of the health aspect related to this issue,” he observed.

Parrikar, informally speaking to ‘The Navhind Times’, said that there are “four to five people”, who have links with  president of Goa’s wholesale fish market association Maulana M Ibrahim, and that’s where the problem lies.

The Chief Minister said that at least seven trucks carrying fish from other states and coming to Goa were sent back on the night of July 18. “They were asked to go back as the 15-day ban on fish import into Goa has come into force,” he noted.
