CHENNAI: On B Paranthaman's fifer, Power CC defeated Sakthi CC by four wickets in a Third Division match of the TNCA-Villupuram District Cricket Association league. Set a target of 98, A Vijayaraj's unbeaten 57 came in handy for Power CC. Brief scores: II Division: New Yg Indian CC 70 in 17.4 ovs (M Sridhar 27; R Shanmugam 3/21, A Saravanan 3/8) lost to Vikravandi CC 73/3 in 8.5 ovs (J Slimbarasan 41). III Division: VRSCET B 85 in 22.5 ovs (P Balraj 49 n.o) lost to United CC B 86/0 in 6.4 ovs (D Elangovan 61 n.o). Siga Management A 104 in 14.5 ovs (N Arun Kumar 35, R Vimalchandar 3/27, K Sathish Kumar 3/1) lost to SRTCA 106/1 in 11.5 ovs (R Rathinaraj 44 n.o, N Balan 40 n.o). Sakthi CC 97 in 20.5 ovs (B Paranthaman 5/20, D Narashiman 3/18) lost to Power CC 99/6 in 21.2 ovs (A Vijayaraj 57 n.o, S Sengoden 25; S Selvamani 4/23).

Thamaraiselvi clinches title

P Thamaraiselvi of MOP Vaishnav College won the U-25 category title in the women's segment at the 21st edition of the Hercules Cycles -TN State level chess tournament for school and college students organised by Everwin Educational Institutions and Thiruvallur District Chess Association, at Everwin MHSS, Kolathur. Results: (Winners only): Girls: U-25: P Thamaraiselvi (MOP Vaishnav Collage) 4.5; U-14 G Divyabharathi Masanam (St Johns Sr Sec school) 6; U-12: B Savitha Shri (Velammal Vidhyalaya) 7.5; U-10: S Swetha (URC Palaniammal MHSS) 7; U-8: Stevlin S Stalin (Chettainadu Public School) (8/8).

SDAT bag crown

SDAT team won the overall title at the Chennai District Junior Athletic Championships held at JN Stadium. Karl Marx Athletic Club bagged the runner-up crown.

TOURNAMENT

The second Tamil Nadu state ranking table tennis tournament will be held at Sri Veerapa Naicker Lakshmi Ammal auditorium, Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College in Madurai on July 28 and 29. Entries close on July 19 and the same can be sent to cdtta1@gmail.com.
