NAGPUR: The state government has promised to take action in a week on an officer from social justice department allegedly involved in the multi-crore
scholarship scam.
Senior BJP legislator
Eknath Khadse on Thursday raised the issue of the alleged scholarship scam in the legislative assembly. “Vaishali Hinge, an officer from the social justice department, has illegally sanctioned scholarship of Rs 32 crore to students from other states and transferred the amount to her own account. The students couldn’t get the amount,” he said.
Khadse demanded that the officer be suspended immediately and an inquiry initiated in the case. Leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil seconded the issue. Minister of state for social justice Dilip Kamble, while replying to the calling attention motion, has assured to take action against the officer in a week.
Meanwhile, Kamble also announced that a child of a reserved category need not submit documents related to caste validity if his or her father or a blood relative already has it a validated caste certificate.
