With the rainy season now in full swing, resulting in water-logging and clogged drains, Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has conducted a special cleanliness drive mostly involving the major drains in the city on Wednesday. Speaking of the drive, the MCD officers who supervised the drive said that four teams had been formed, each comprising 25-30 sanitation staffs for the purpose. Each team was directed by a sanitary inspector, they said, adding that around eight sanitary inspectors had been assigned to the task. Besides, 48 dumpers and trolleys were used by the team during the  drive, they informed.

“The areas where the drive was conducted included  Rispana, Dharampur, Prince Chowk, Rajeev Nagar Colony, Bindal area, Dalanwala and Inder Road. The strength of the employees engaged in the drive was good enough to ensure that maximum work was done during the drive.

The teams were also sent to the areas from where we often get complaints,” informed a senior civic body officer who supervised the drive.

Furthermore, aside from cleaning the drains, the teams launched the cleanliness drive in different wards.

The areas covered during the drive were Madrasi Colony, Bindal Colony, Araghar Chowk, Rajiv Nagar, Inder Road, Shakti Vihar and Canal Road.

Around 123 water-logging complaints have been received by the disaster and flood control cell under MCD so far following the onset of monsoon and most of them have been resolved, claimed the MCD officers.
