Man held for raping minor in city

In a shameful incident, a 60-year-old man was arrested by the Kharavel Nagar police on Wednesday for allegedly raping a minor girl a couple of days ago at Satya Nagar in the city.

Reports said the accused Ajay Barik, a nieghbour of the victim, raped the seven-year-old girl taking advantage of absence of her parents on Sunday. Then, he fled from the spot.

When the girl’s parents returned home, she narrated the incident to them, following which her family members filed a complaint with the Kharavel Nagar police on Monday.

Acting on the complaint, the police arrested the accused and sent him and the girl for medical examination.
