Hry to get conducted survey of sowing area of paddy, bajra, maize

Haryana Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Karan Dev Kamboj on Wednesday said that the State Government would get conducted a survey of sowing area of paddy, bajra and maize so as to make all arrangements for the procurement of crops of farmers.

He also directed the agencies concerned to take appropriate steps for proper procurement of Kharif crops so as to provide all farmers fair price for their crops.

The Minister was presiding over a meeting with the officers of Hafed, FCI, Haryana State Warehouse Corporation and Agriculture department here.

Directions have been issued to ensure proper supply of gunny bags and to take appropriate steps in time to meet other important needs, he said.

The Minister also said that there is excitement among farmers in view of increase in the cost of their crops by the Central Government.

Kamboj also informed that the State Government has recovered about Rs 11 crore due from two rice millers as Custom Milled Rice (CMR).

This amount was due from CMR of 2013-14 and 2015-16, he said.

The Minister said that a total of Rs 9.5 crore was recovered from Nissing of Bhagwati Rice Millers and about Rs 1.5 crore from Jharvir Rana, a rice miler of Jhansa in Kurukshetra.

The State Government has recovered about 99 per cent CMR in the past years but some rice millers were not paying off their due CMR. In view of which, case have been registered against such people because of which the amount due has been recovered, he said.

The Minister said that directions have been issued to attach the property of three rice millers of Kurukshetra, costing about Rs 25 crore by Deputy Commissioner.

He added that the State Government had already warned the milers of strict legal actions in case they fail to deposit their due CMR with the government.
