RBI to launch new Rs 100 notes in violet colour

The RBI is set to issue new Rs 100 notes that would be of violet colour. The new Rs 100 note with additional micro-security features would be launched either in August or in September 2018. The new notes would be smaller in size than the present Rs 100 notes, but would be slightly bigger than the new Rs 10 notes. The notes would have the impression of Gujarat's Rani Ki Vav (Queen's stepwell). The old Rs 100 notes would continue to be in circulation.
