New Delhi : The Human Resources Development Ministry has stalled the interviews for teaching staff under the University Grants Commission’s circular of March 5 being misused to circumvent the government’s reservation policy, union minister Prakash Javadekar announced in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
The minister said the UGC circular allowing the appointments, treating each department as a separate unit instead of the selection at the university level had been followed by some universities causing this anomaly. He said the UGC circular stemmed from an Allahabad High Court judgment endorsed by the Supreme Court.
