Establish Defence cluster at Naraj: CM

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has given a proposal to the Tata group for establishment of a Defence manufacturing cluster at Naraj in Cuttack district.

During a meeting with Tata Sons Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekharan on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said the Tata Advanced Systems

may consider developing a Defence cluster on the 871 hectares of land at Naraj in possession of the Tata power.

Expressing happiness over the expansion of the Tata plant at Kalinga Nagar, the Chief Minister also proposed the conglomerate to consider developing a steel downstream cluster at Kalinga Nagar with provision of liquid metal.

He proposed that the Tata Motors come up with e-vehicle project, Tata Chemicals with a manufacturing unit at Paradip and the Tata SEZ set up a manufacturing unit at Gopalpur.

He requested that the Tata Group participate in the World Skill Centre project as an industry partner to deliver world-class skill to the State’s youth.

The Chief Minister requested Chandrasekharan to step up campus placements in different Government engineering colleges, ITIs and polytechnics and expedite setting up of 500-bed super specialty hospital at Sitalapalli in Ganjam district.

He also wanted that the Tata AIG expedite the payment of crop insurance claims to farmers of the State.

In response, the Tata Steel chief said all proposals made by the Chief Minister are valuable and would be considered by the company.
