The Congress party on Wednesday demanded resignation of State Health Minister Ajay Chandrakar over the issue of death of a critically ill infant on Tuesday in the '108 Sanjeevani Ambulance' when its door failed to open on time at Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital here.

Addressing a press conference here at Congress Bhawan on Wednesday, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) President, Bhupesh Baghel expressed grief over the death of infant and said it should be viewed as a ‘murder’.

Charging of laxity, Baghel said that  it was shameful that the infant died at the doors of biggest hospital of the State and nothing could be done to save him.

Apathy towards the botched eye surgery of elderly person, sterilization death of women in the State, scenes of people carrying dead bodies in shoulders was enough; but at least the death of infant should have brought shame for the government, he said.

Baghel further said it was astonishing that on one hand the entire Thailand came forward to save the lives of stranded children in a cave while on the other hand, an infant succumbs here to death trapped in an Ambulance.
