NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has introduced its latest processor designed for mid-segment smartphones at an event in China. The company has launched Kirin 710 processor which uses 12nm technology which is the first in Kirin series.

The processor consists of four smaller ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7GHz and four bugger ARM Cortex -- A73 cores clocked at 2.2GHz. The chipset also has ARM Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. The company claims that the processor will offer AI photo features and an enhanced gaming experience using independent ISP and DSP.

The ARM Mali-G51 MP4 GPU claims that it can deliver 1.3 times better performance in comparison to the ARM-Mali T830 MP2 GPU which was used in Kirin 659. The SoC also offers Cat 12/13 speeds of up to 300 Mbps and comes with dual SIM and dual VoLTE support. This means that both the SIM cards will use 4G and VoLTE at the same time making it easier for the user to switch SIMs.

Along with the processor, the company also launched the Huawei Nova 3i smartphone which is powered by the Kirin 710 processor. The company also ran Geekbench test on the smartphone and the device and processor scored 75% better single-core scores and 68% better multi-core scores when compared to the last year introduced Kirin 759.

The Huawei Nova 3i is the mid-segment smartphone of the company which is expected to launch in India soon. The device will be exclusively available on Amazon India website.

The Huawei Nova 3i runs Android Oreo operating system and offers GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. Users can add more storage by installing a microSD card of up to 265GB. The device sports a 6.3-inch full HD+ display with 2340 x 1080 pixels resolution and 19:5:9 aspect ratio.
