Ujjain: The police team which seized a consignment truck carrying 2000 pieces of raw cow leather at Mullapura railway crossing on Tuesday was helped by the Akhil Bharatiya Gauraksha Mahasabha, which played a big role in the operation.
Mahasabha state coordinator Manish Singh Chouhan informed that they had submitted a memorandum addressed to the IG and SP Sachin Atulkar, as well as to ASP crime branch Pramod Sonkar. They demandedthat a case be filed under the National Security act against all the three accused and initiate investigation to unearth the area and people involved in mass slaughter of cows, he said.
He stated that Mahasabha members were getting information about slaughter and transportation of raw cow leather around city continuously. He also suspected the involvement of an interstate gang in the heinous crime. He alleged that there were several small agents involved in collection of leather.
Big agents collect leather from small agents at a particular point, as found in Ratadiya village on Tuesday, and arranged for transportation of these leather consignments out of state, he added. In the memorandum they pointed out the incidents of transportation of tonnes of meat directly from Indore road and asked the police to organize strict vigilance in order to unearth the crime.
