Officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation swung into action following publication of the report ‘Surge of trash lays siege to Golconda’ carried in The Hindu edition of July 19.
According to a press release issued by the GHMC: “A sanitation team headed by the Assistant Medical Officer of Health visited the spot Moti Darwaza and the garbage was removed using earth movers and sanitation workers.”
“Today morning, officials came and removed garbage and debris using earth movers. Four vehicles were used to cart the garbage. The water channel has also been cleaned and it is not flowing onto the road. There is no foul smell either,” said a resident of the area when contacted.
