Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) contract workers at luggage counters staged a demonstration in front of the administrative building here , demanding job security.
Of the 14,500 contractual employees, 300 are at counters in Tirumala, while 100 on the Alipiri and Srivari Mettu routes.
With the change of contractor , attempts were reportedly made to replace the workers.
Calling it ‘gross injustice’ to the working class, CITU District General Secretary K. Murali recalled that the Supreme Court had stated that change of contractors should not lead to removal of workers. The workers later submitted a representation to the Additional Chief Vigilance and Security Officer Sivakumar Reddy.
