Mumbai: Woman dies, two kids hurt in rail accident at Bandra station

MUMBAI: A woman in her mid-thirties was killed after being knocked down by a train while her two children suffered minor injuries at Bandra station on Thursday night. Police officials said the woman's body was severed. She hasn't been identified as yet.


The incident was reported around 8.30pm on platform number 5. She is believed to have got off on the tracks from an Up fast local with both her kids. Onlookers alerted the cops and she was rushed to the Bhabha Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.

The children, both boys, are aged around 2 and 4 years. The younger child suffered injuries to his head, face and eyes. The older child has also suffered facial injuries. "The kids are being treated at the Bhabha Hospital. They are very scared and are crying. The older child has been able to give us his first name. Once they are treated, we will feed them and calm them. Subsequently, women personnel will quiz them gently about their background and where they stay," a senior GRP officer said.

The Bandra GRP have recorded a case of accidental death.
