Coimbatore: The chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court here on Thursday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to provide copies of inquiry report on the death of deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Vishnupriya to her father M Ravi.
Ravi had approached the court seeking the CBI report on his daughter’s death after he was given the CB-CID report instead.
Vishnupriya, who was the DSP of Tiruchengode in Namakkal district, was investigating the murder of Gokulraj, 23, a native of Omalur in Salem district. Gokulraj’s decapitated body was found near a railway track in Thiruchengode sub-division in Namakkal district in 2015.
Meanwhile, she was found hanging in her residence at Tiruchengode on September 18, 2015. The case was investigated by the state police and later transferred to the CB-CID. Alleging departmental harassment as the reason for her suicide, Ravi had filed a petition before the Supreme Court requesting CBI inquiry.
In its final report in May 2018, CBI said it was a suicide and ruled out departmental harassment. But Ravi alleged that the CBI did not investigate the case properly and sought the inquiry report. The court ordered CBI to provide the inquiry reports to Ravi. When the case came up for hearing on Thursday, defense counsel PR Arulmozhi said that CBI had handed over the CB-CID’s investigation report to Ravi.
After Ravi sought the CBI’s report, chief judicial magistrate Nagaraj ordered CBI to furnish the report to Ravi and adjourned the case to August 9.
