Vadodara: Four more cholera cases were reported in different parts of the city on Wednesday. The fresh cases came to light even as the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) claims that the situation of waterborne diseases in the city is under control.
The fresh cholera cases came to light in the Yakutpura, Waghodiya Road, Bavamanpura and Salatwada areas of the city. Cholera cases have come to light in these areas earlier too.
VMC officials said that the cases were from areas that may have been already affected. They also added that the health teams of the civic body had conducted door-to-door visits in the affected areas. No fresh cases were reported from the rural parts of the Vadodara district including the Khedakarmasiya village in Waghodiya taluka that was declared cholera affected recently.
VMC reports suggest that two fresh cases of gastroenteritis were reported from the Navapura area of the city that has been reeling under the outbreak since the last couple of weeks. Both the patients were hospitalised at the SSG Hospital (SSGH).
In all, 109 cases of gastroenteritis were reported from the area and these included three that are hospitalised. The VMC has confirmed that two cases of cholera were also reported from the area. SSGH reports suggested that there were two more that the VMC records are not reflecting.
