CHANDIGARH: More than 24 hours after 20 men armed with sticks and
iron rods vandalised a cafe in Sector 9, police are yet to catch the accused.
The accused broke flower vases and furniture at BoomBox Cafe on Monday night. Bouncers ran away, while women guests hid in auto-rickshaws parked near the club.
Police said the miscreants carried out the
attack as the bouncers had denied them entry two days back. The accused reached the eatery in four to five cars around 9.30 pm and assaulted the bouncers standing at the entrance. The accused thrashed an employee,
Inder Kumar, with
baseball bats and sticks. He was taken to Police to Government Multispecialty Hospital, Sector 16, for treatment.
The accused tried to enter the cafe from the back door, but could not succeed and broke chairs and other furniture. In the meantime, club officials informed police about the attack. Poonam Dilawari, station house officer, Sector 3, reached the spot, but the accused had already fled.
Police registered a case against unknown persons and started investigation. Krishan Kumar, DSP, central division, said vehicles used by the miscreants have been identified and the accused would be arrested soon. Police said three cars bore Haryana registration number and one car had a Delhi number. Police are also sifting through the
CCTV footage to identify the accused.
