HYDERABAD: A seven-year-old mountaineer Samanyu Pothuraju, who conquered Mt
Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, got to meet
Telangana IT and industries minister
KT Rama Rao, who appreciated him for his feat.
The mountaineer had tweeted to the minister expressing interest to meet him.
“Hi sir, I am Master Samanyu Pothuraju, aged 7 years, from Hyderabad. I made my state and country proud by scaling Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak. I have now started preparing to make one more world record by scaling Mt Kozsiosco, Australia. Want to meet you once. Thank you,” Samanya had said in his tweet.
“Sure buddy. Would love to meet and talk to you soon,” the minister had responded on June 23.
KTR’s office immediately got in touch with the mountaineer and arranged a meeting for him with the minister in the city on Wednesday.
“The minister spent a good amount of time with the
young mountaineer and appreciated him for conquering Mt Kilimanjaro,” the KTR’s office said.
Samanyu, one of the youngest trekkers from Telangana, has earlier conquered the Everest Base Camp and is gearing up to scale Mt Elbrus in Russia towards the end of July.
Sreeja Akula, a table tennis champion from Telangana, also met the minister. She became the first player from Telangana to win the Youth girls title at National Ranking Table Tennis Championship held at Panchkula in Haryana.
