ALLAHABAD: In a case of road rage, a 25-year-old police constable was shot at by unidentified assailants near PWD Office Road in Kotwali police station area of
Pratapgarh late on Tuesday.
Karan Pratap Singh, the constable, is a resident of Faizabad district and is posted at reserve police line.
Pratapgarh SP (city) Purnendu Singh said: “The incident took place when constable Karan Pratap Singh was returning to reserve police line from a local market. His scooty collided with an SUV and it resulted in heated argument between the two parties. The scene took an ugly turn when one of the them opened fire on the constable and left him injured. The miscreants managed to escape from the scene unchallenged.”
“The constable sustained gun shot injuries in his thigh. He was first taken to the district hospital from where doctors referred him to SRN hospital for treatment owing to excessive bleeding. His condition is stated to be stable,” he added.
Police said that a case under section 307 of IPC has been lodged with Kotwali police station against unidentified persons regarding the incident. No arrest has been made so far.
