Sabarimala temple case: Woman's right to pray is equal to that of a man, says Supreme Court
The state of Kerala, through its Senior Advocate J D Gupta, made it clear that it is supporting entry the of women into the temple.

The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, commenced its hearing on the ongoing debate over the restriction on entry of women aged between 10 to 50 in Kerala's Sabarimala temple.

The Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra asked, on what basis are the temple authorities denying entry of women between the specified age group. The CJI said, "it is against the Constitutional mandate. Once you open it for the public, anybody can go."

Justice DY Chandrachud said, that a woman's right to pray is equal to that of a man and is not dependent on a law to enable the temple authorities to do that.

It is learnt that the state of Kerala has changed its stance on the issue for the fourth time. The state, through its Senior Advocate J D Gupta, made it clear that it is supporting women's entry into the temple. The bench expressed wonder at the frequency with which the southern state has changed its standpoint on the matter.
