Three sluice gates of Machkund dam opened

As rain continues to lash Jalapat and Machkund catchment areas, three sluice gates of Machkund dam reservoir were opened on Tuesday.

JEYPORE: As rain continues to lash Jalapat and Machkund catchment areas, three sluice gates of Machkund dam reservoir were opened on Tuesday.  The low pressure induced rain has been lashing Lamtaput, Onkadeli, Machkund and Jalaput areas where Machkund Hydel project is located.

With the water level reaching close to the red mark of 275 metres, the dam authorities opened three sluice gates to release rain water. There has been no reports of damage to life or property due to release of water. On the other hand, National Highways Authority of India has started repairing the damaged patches on Visakhapatnam and Raipur NH that passes through Jeypore town. About three km stretch of the NH was damaged in the rain.
