Brown sugar seized; 4 held in Cuttack

In a major breakthrough, Excise officials seized over 250 grams of brown sugar by intercepting a vehicle on the Kathajodi river bridge in Cuttack on Tuesday.

On a tipoff, the Excise officials rushed to the spot and nabbed four drug peddlers, who were allegedly transporting the contraband from Jaleswar in Baleswar district to Bhubaneswar.

The identities of the arrested persons were yet to be ascertained. The estimated market value of the seized contraband is worth above Rs 30 lakh, sources said.

A Scorpio was also seized from the spot in which the accused had brought the brown sugar packets and were supposed to sell it to some customers in Bhubaneswar.
