‘Release B’ngir farmers’ crop insurance sum’

President of Balangir District Central Cooperative Bank Laxman Meher has urged the Chief Secretary to take necessary steps to release crop insurance compensation of farmers of the district who had insured their crop by paying premium.

In a letter written to the Chief Secretary on July 16, Meher pointed out that the farmers of Balangir district had insured their crop with Chloamandlam company by paying premium. In spite of repeated requests to the company to take steps to expedite the payment of compensation, the company has turned a deaf ear, points out the letter. “Last month when I attended various villages and block headquarters of Balangir and Subarnapur districts as a part of the campaign Cooperative at the Doorstep, several farmers complained of non receipt of compensation for crop loss. Hence, I request you to take necessary steps so that the insurance company released the sum to the farmers,” Meher in his letter said.
