The Member of Parliament is not willing to take any drastic step either

The controversy in the ruling TRS over the reported anti-party activity by Rajya Sabha member D.Srinivas appears to have subsided, at least for the time being.

Though, there was intense debate in the political circles over the impending action against the senior leader, the TRS leadership has apparently decided to go slow on the issue especially during the election year. Mr. Srinivas on his part is learned to have decided against taking any hasty decision.

It may be recalled that on June 28, elected representatives of the Nizamabad unit of TRS had passed an unanimous resolution seeking immediate action against Mr. Srinivas for, what they termed, his ‘anti-party activities’.

The major contention of the TRS leadership was that Mr. Srinivas was encouraging his younger son D. Aravind, who is in BJP and another son D. Sanjay, who is trying to rejoin the Congress at the cost of the ruling party. It is already close to three weeks that the issue hogged the limelight for couple of days and everyone expected serious action against Mr. Srinivas. Speculation was rife that he may be suspended or expelled from the party. But there was no such development and Mr. Srinivas could not get an appointment with Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao till date.

In the meantime, followers of Mr. Srinivas came to Hyderabad and held a meeting with him. Sources close to the senior leader said his supporters wanted him to take a categorical decision. Mr. Srinivas is understood to have prevailed upon his aides not to take any drastic decision. “I am waiting to meet KCR. I want to clear the confusion over the issue. Till such time, I will not take any step that will cause damage to TRS. I have been rewarded amply by the TRS leadership and I am grateful to the party for that,” he reportedly told his followers. Subsequently at a wedding in the city, sources said, Mr. Srinivas had a brief interaction with Municipal Administration Minister K.T.Rama Rao.

The Minister is said to have told the Rajya Sabha member not to take any hasty decision. “I will talk to the Chief Minister and see that a meeting is arranged,” he was quoted as telling Mr. Srinivas.TRS sources maintained that the party will not act against Mr. Srinivas at this juncture as it might send wrong signals that a BC leader has been targeted. At the same time, the party does not want to give any scope for the senior leader to make any move by initiating any disciplinary action.

“If we take disciplinary action against him, Mr. Srinivas will have freedom to act on his own, which we do not want to happen,” a TRS leader remarked.

Meanwhile, Mr. Srinivas left for New Delhi to attend the monsoon session of Parliament beginning on Wednesday.
