GHAZIABAD: Five members of a gang that stole high-end cars and motorbikes have been arrested by Kotwali police. As many as four luxury cars and 15 motorcycles were recovered from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Imran, Krishna, Vikas, Vishal and Somendra. They were caught during a routine check near Gaurang factory in Kotwali on Monday. Three knives and four duplicate keys were also found with them.

Police said the five had been hired by two leaders of the gang, who are absconding. “The gang moved around in an Innova to conduct a recce of their possible targets. So no one suspected they were car thieves. This is the first time they have been arrested. These youngsters were engaged by the two who are absconding,” said SSP Vaibhav Krishna.

Krishna said the gang followed a similar modus operandi of changing chassis and engine numbers of the stolen vehicles and sell them in other states.
