The incident happened on July 4; one of the accused is victim’s ex-colleague

Three persons have been arrested for allegedly shooting at a man, who was carrying a bag of cash, in south Delhi’s Yusuf Sarai.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Romil Baaniya said that the accused have been identified as Dheeraj Yadav, Jai Prakash and Ajay Talwar who allegedly shot at Sajjan Kumar on July 4 outside a bank.

The police said that Mr. Kumar, an employee of a distributing agency, was crossing Moolchand flyover when a bike hit his vehicle from behind and tried to intercept him. He, however, ignored and moved on. When he reached the bank near Gujjar Dairy in Yusuf Sarai, the accused tried to snatch his bag. When he resisted, they shot at him. A bullet hit his left eyebrow. He, however, managed to keep the bag safe with him. The accused fled the spot.

Mr. Kumar suspected involvement of a man, who is an ex colleague of him.

During investigation, Mr. Yadav, an ex-employee, turned out to be the prime suspect. On Sunday, he was picked up from Kishanganj. “When questioned, he revealed the identities of the other accused, after which they were arrested,” Mr. Baaniya said.

The police said that Mr. Yadav, who had planned the crime, was well-aware of the route that Mr. Kumar would take.
