Insurance companies in Vietnam collected VND58.6tn ($2.6bn) in premiums in the first half of this year, up nearly 24.4% year-on-year, according to data from the Insurance Supervisory Agency under the Finance Ministry.
Insurers paid out a total of VND16.3tn to beneficiaries in the six-month period, up by 22.4% compared to the corresponding period last year.
By the end of June, assets of insurers totalled VND337tn , an increase of 27.3% compared to 12 months previously.
In comparison, in the 2017 full year, total premium revenue of insurers in Vietnam hit VND105.6 trillion, soaring by 21.2% over 2016.
