Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has ordered allocation of four hectare forest land on a 30 year lease to the Haldwani municipal corporation for the disposal of solid waste. Sources informed that following this, late on Tuesday evening, secretary Arvind Singh Hyanki issued a government order to this effect.

In the order he has directed the officials concerned of the forest department to immediately provide non-forestry work related land to the municipal corporation for setting up a trenching ground.
