Elderly woman robbed of cash, mobile phone

LUDHIANA: Two motorcycle-borne miscreants robbed a 60-year-old woman shopkeeper of her hand bag on Monday evening in BRS Nagar while the woman was going home in a cycle rickshaw. The bag contained Rs 22,000 in cash, a mobile phone, a debit card and some important documents.

The victim, Pritpal Kaur of BRS Nagar, stated in her police complaint that after the death of her husband she had been taking care of their readymade garments shop in BRS Nagar. On Monday night after finishing up with the day, she hired a cycle rickshaw to reach home. As she reached CFC School, two motorcycle-borne men snatched her handbag and fled. The rickshaw puller tried to chase them, but to no avail.

Investigating officer assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sukhpal Singh said the police had been scanning CCTVs footage of the area where the incident took place to identify the accused. case has been registered against the unidentified accused.
