In a major burglary which took place on the midnight of Sunday, some unknown culprits effected entry into a Sumsung M-Zone mobile shop near Mundvel- Vaddem in Vasco and decamped with branded mobile handsets, sports watches worth Rs 26 lakh.

As per available information from Vasco PI Nolasco Raposo, the incident reported during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, when the culprits effected entry into the Samsung M-Zone mobile shop which is located at the ground floor of Confraria Enclave, adjacent to NRB Fitness Studio (gymnasium) near Goa Shipyard Ltd at Mundvel- Vaddem in Vasco.

The unknown culprits effected entry into the shop by bending the shutter and decamped with 135 mobile handsets of different companies like Samsung, Oppo and Vivo besides 2 sports watches worth Rs 26 lakh.

“There were about 96 mobile handsets of Samsung company, while the remaining mobile handsets was of Oppo and Vivo companies”, said Raposo. He said that the owner of the shop Priya Salkar came to know about the incident at around 10 am on Monday, and immediately intimated her husband and then called the police.

During the course of investigation, police have revealed that the close circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed at the shop were switched off.  “The police have summoned fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs at the site, where we have got some vital clues in the burglary”, said Raposo.

The deputy superintendent of police Vasco Sunita Sawant putting more light into the investigation revealed that the police have found four finger prints of some unknown persons at the shop. “The fingerprint experts have provided us some clues and based upon the fingerprints, the police are further investigating the case”, added Sawant.

The police have registered an offence under Section 457, 380 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and are further investigating the case.
