Nearly 350kg of ganja worth Rs 17.50 lakh was recovered from an abandoned SUV in this district of Chhattisgarh, police said today.
The contraband was seized from the sports utility vehicle (SUV), a Scorpio, that was left near a pond in Sarangarh area, Raigarh Additional Superintendent of Police Harish Rathore said.
No arrest has been made so far, he said.
After getting information about the abandoned vehicle, a police team reached the spot and found 12 bags containing nearly 350 kg of ganja in the car, Rathore said.
The seized cannabis is worth around Rs 17.50 lakh, the police officer said.
The vehicle had a fake number plate, he said.
Prima facie, it seems that fearing arrest, the drug smugglers left the contraband at a secluded place and fled, he said.
A case has been registered with the Sarangarh police station, the ASP said, adding further probe was underway.
