Minor girl missing from hostel since Jun 26

A Class-VIII girl student of a mission school under Kuanrmunda block of Sundargarh district has gone mysteriously missing since June 26 and her family members approached Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on Sunday, seeking the intervention for tracing the girl. The CWC has started an inquiry into the matter.

According to sources, a 14-year- old girl of Lahunipara block of Sundargarh district, who is a student of class VIII of Don Bosco High School in Kuanrmunda block of the district, is an inmate in school hostel.

According to her family members, the elder brother of the girl had dropped her in school hostel on June 26 morning. Since, the girl had interest in hockey, his elder brother had reached the school on July 6 to pick her up, since her brother wanted her to participate in the woman hockey player selection to the State sports hostel but he came to know that his sister has been missing from the school from June 26 evening.

On his information, his father had reached the school and had inquired about the matter from the school principal, but had not got any suitable reply.

The family members lodged a complaint in Kuanrmunda police outpost on July 12. "Since the girl is a minor, we have registered a kidnapping case and started investigation in to the matter," said OIC Manoj Nayak.

Meanwhile, CWC chairman BK Mallick said, "We will  write to school authority and local police to submit a report on the status of the case.
