CM lays stress on employment generation

Stating that his government is fervently pursuing employment generation in Goa, including creation of jobs in the government sector, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday said that through the recently launched Goa information technology policy and soon to be released Goa industrial policy, at least 4,000 to 5,000 jobs would be created in the state private sector by December 2018.

“The recruitment in government jobs had been halted during past one to one-and-a-half year,” he stated while addressing a meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party workers in the city, informing that the recruitment in government sector would restart soon, and during August/ September 2018, at least 1,000 to 1,200 government jobs are scheduled to be advertised.

“The tourism sector, during the past five years, experienced a jump in the number of tourists visiting the state, from 27 lakh to 80 lakh, which resulted in creation of 8,000 to 10,000 additional jobs in this sector,  as local hotels doubled their capacity,” the Chief Minister observed, admitting that some evil factors did enter in the state tourism sector, but the government is capable of controlling them.

“in the past five to six years, the field of information technology in Goa has generated 2,500 to 3,000 jobs through 270 locally-based IT companies,” Parrikar added, pointing out that in the past one year, 49 IT companies cleared by the Investment Promotion Board have already started functioning by creating 2,780-odd jobs.

“Furthermore, various employment-oriented schemes of the Economic Development Corporation have contributed in employing at least 1,000 youth,” he added.

Parrikar told  the BJP workers  that the party needs to win both the Lok Sabha seats in Goa, and for this purpose, they should take to the people correct facts about all the help extended by the Narendra Modi government to Goa, as also the achievements of the state government.

The Chief Minister said that false propaganda is being undertaken by Opposition parties against the BJP through fake news, which should be adequately replied to.

“We need to be active and vocal for this purpose,” he noted, while maintaining that Congress party is responsible for controversial issues like Regional Plan, casinos and coal pollution, but the BJP is unnecessarily held

responsible for the same.

Parrikar said the party workers, during next nine months, would be required to establish contact with young as well as middle-aged generation as also with women so as to disseminate the public welfare work undertaken by the BJP.

He also mentioned that spreading lies has been the agenda of some people, especially the Congressmen, and he himself was being projected as an arrogant person, when he became the Chief Minister for the first time.

The Chief Minister said that Goa would have never witnessed its ongoing development had it not been Modi and Union  Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari sanctioning hundreds of crores of rupees for Goa.

“And the role of the Bharatiya Janata Party parliamentarians from Goa, in following up these developmental projects, is very important,” he stressed.

Urging the BJP workers to create a positive approach in the society, Parrikar said that the Opposition parties are inciting the minority communities against the BJP through lies.

“Things like triple Talaq form inhuman traditions and the BJP would go all out to help the Muslim women in leading a dignified life, and the party will further focus on gender equality,” he noted.

On a parting note, an emotional Parrikar said that for  the past four months he did not meet any party worker due to his illness. However, after the monsoon he would try to visit the villages and meet the party workers.

“I may not be able to visit you with the same frequency as in the past, but nevertheless I will try to meet you in the future,” he assured.

Union Minister of State for AYUSH (independent charge) Shripad Naik;  state BJP president Vinay Tendulkar; South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar; and senior BJP leaders Laxmikant Parsekar and Rajendra Arlekar among others were also present at the meet.

Around 1,200 BJP workers attended this meeting.
