Newly crowned Champion Novak Djokovic, who defeated South Africa's 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 in the final of the championship, has said that he did not expect to make a comeback in the tournament but he never doubted his abilities.

"At the same time, there is a part of me that always believes in my own abilities, believes in my own quality of tennis, what I possess. Whenever I come to the tournament and, Grand Slams especially, I believe I can have a good opportunity to fight for the trophy," he added.

The 31-year-old, who had to cut short his 2017 season due to elbow injury, made a solid comeback in this year's but lost in the pre-quarter final clash 6-7, 5-7, 6-7 against of The Serbian then appeared in Open and where he lost his initial clashes.

The former world number one, however, asserted that the process made him patient and he had to learn the lessons in hard way.

Reflecting on his future, the Serbian said that he is not sure about the same but currently he is looking

"I really can't see the future. I don't know what's going to happen. But I like to play on hard courts. was always a successful tournament for me. I'm looking forward to also go out there and play my best and see where it takes me," he said.
