Torrential rains across western Japan last week triggered floods and landslides that killed more than 200 people and left over a dozen missing in Japan's worst weather disaster in 36 years. Mabi, which merged with Kurashiki in 2005, was one of the hardest hit, accounting for most of the 51 killed in Kurashiki.
