Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav quoting the recent report of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has alleged that under the BJP rule farmers of the country were getting 14 percent less price of the agriculture produce as compared to the international markets.

Infect far from slamming India, the OECD - ICRIER (Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations) report recently released on July 5 has said that the India’s agro-food sector is at a critical juncture, facing multiple challenges.

The report suggested to the government to launch new bold policy initiatives and accelerate existing reforms to achieve higher agriculture growth and ensure better income to farmers. The report ‘Agriculture Policies in India’ pointed out that the gross farm revenue declined 6 per cent annually between 2014 and 2016 period because of low market prices even as farmers got large subsidies for various inputs like fertilisers, power and irrigation.

OECD is an inter governmental economic organization with 36 countries as members founded in 1961 to stimulate economic progress and world trade. The OECD has also predicted that by 2060 India and China will account for almost a half of global output.

Resorting to the usual rhetoric’s Akhilesh Yadav said  ``what ever BJP may claim to woo the farmers , it remains the fact that maximum number of incidents of suicide by the farmers have occurred in the BJP ruled states like UP, MP, Punjab, Haryana  and Rajasthan.  It may be pointed out that Punjab has government led by Chief Minister Amrinder Singh of the Congress.

The SP leader claimed that the BJP leaders do not have even rudimentary knowledge of agriculture and they will continue to pursue their divisive politics. He said the people of the country have now seen through the game of the BJP and they will give a befitting reply to the ruling party at the Center and UP in 2019 ok Sabha elections.
