Israel Railways CEO Will Meet Suppliers At The 7th International Railway Summit

Israel has seen an extraordinary 70% rise in train journeys over the last five years, reaching 65 million in 2017. The country has the fastest-growing population in the developed world, and to meet this rapid increase in demand Israel Railways has begun a comprehensive development programme; planned projects include new lines and stations, the spread of elecrification, advanced upgrades to connection and signalling systems, and the building of additional cargo terminals. The network is expected to double in size by 2040.

Fundamental to the future of transport and economic growth in Israel is the new Tel Aviv to Jerusalem 57km high-speed line set to open in September 2018. The line will cut the journey time between the cities to 28 minutes, a full one hour faster than possible before.

Shahar Ayalon, CEO of Israel Railways since January 2017, will represent the organisation at the 7th International Railway Summit, where he will meet with expert supplier delegates in pre-arranged one-to-one consultation meetings. Mr Ayalon previously served as Fire and Rescue Commissioner, Deputy Inspector General and Commander of Tel Aviv District in the Israel Police force.

Organisations and individuals interested in learning more about the International Railway Summit and about how they can participate in the event can visit or contact the organisers, IRITS Events.

International Railway Summit is a meeting of senior executives representing the world’s key rail operators, rail infrastructure management companies, national and local governments, rolling stock manufacturers and a wide range of solution providers.

International Railway Summit provides a ‘matchmaking’ service between rail industry leaders (‘buyers’) and technical experts, based on buyer delegates’ project requirements and the proven expertise of large and small suppliers that we have carefully handpicked. Based on this matchmaking, buyer delegates attend one-to-one consultation sessions with suitable suppliers during the annual summit.

In addition to the one-to-one meetings, delegates also attend a conference programme given by key industry leaders and experts and network over lunches and dinners with their counterparts and industry colleagues from all over the world. International Railway Summit is hosted by IRITS Events. The 5th International Railway Summit will take place on 15-17 November 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the first time the event will be hosted in Asia. The 6th International Railway Summit on 21-23 February 2018 in Prague, Czech Republic.
