Soorma box office day 3: Diljit Dosanjh’s film earns Rs 13.85 cr

Once again, a well publicised Hollywood film, Ant-Man and the Wasp, has beaten Bollywood, Soorma, at the Indian box office.

Diljit’s Dosanjh-starrer Soorma has maintained a steady pace at the box office. The film has collected Rs 13.85 crore over the weekend.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Soorma has decent weekend... Considering the low start on Fri morning, the biz did escalate over the weekend, but the jump on Sun wasn’t substantial enough... Maintaining the pace on weekdays is important... Fri 3.20 cr, Sat 5.05 cr, Sun 5.60 cr. Total: ₹ 13.85 cr. India biz.”

After a dismal start on Friday, Soorma slightly picked up on Saturday and maintained the collections on Sunday. The film earned RS 5.05 crore and RS 5.6 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Based on the real life story of former India hockey captain Sandeep Singh, Soorma is directed by Shaadi Ali and produced by Chitrangada Singh.

Meanwhile, Hollywood film Ant-Man and the Wasp snatched audiences and scored bigger than the Bollywood release of the week- Ant-Man and the Wasp collected RS 24.74 crore over the weekend.

Taran tweeted, “2018 has proved a great year for Hollywood and #AntManAndTheWasp is the latest franchise that has worked... Showed GOOD TRENDING, although growth on Day 3 was missing... Fri 5.50 cr, Sat 7 cr, Sun 6.80 cr. Total: ₹ 19.30 cr Nett BOC... Gross BOC: ₹ 24.74 cr... India biz.”

Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju, in the other hand, continues to wow the audience as the film collected Rs 8.5 crore on its third Sunday. It has already crossed the Rs 300 crore mark.
