Resolve to come out with a people’s agenda

The Left parties have decided to prepare a people’s agenda and mount pressure on the government for its implementation and to organise a ‘Maha Garjana’ in Vijayawada on September 15 with the same objective. They have also stressed the need to work together for the common cause of people’s welfare, particularly inclusive growth in urban areas.

Resolutions have been passed to that effect in a seminar on urbanisation jointly conducted by the CPI(M), CPI and their frontal organisations here on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, CPI(M) Central Committee member V. Srinivasa Rao said the governments had been developing cities in such a manner that weaker sections would be thrown to the fringes. He said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had so far got only temporary buildings constructed in Amaravati.

CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna said it was time the Central and the State governments were taught a lesson for their ‘ineptitude and for misleading people’.
