Jenna Dewan Joins The Resident Season 2

Dancer-actress Jenna Dewan has been cast in a recurring role on Season 2 of Fox's medical drama The Resident, the network announced Monday.

Dewan will play Julia Lynn, a former dancer who recovered from an injury with the help of a medical device. Now she's a medical device rep who's passionate about getting life-saving devices to the people who need them. But as the season progresses, she'll learn about a lack of transparency in the medical sales field that's covering up some dangerous stuff.

Dewan herself rose through the ranks as a back-up dancer before breaking out as an actor in the movie Step Up. She's also the host of NBC's dance competition show World of Dance alongside judges Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and Ne-Yo.

The Resident is not Dewan's only upcoming role; she'll also have a starring role in the upcoming Netflix musical series Mixtape, which started life as a Fox pilot.

The Resident Season 2 premieres Monday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c on Fox.
