CUDDALORE: Annamalai University has cautioned students and parents not to fall prey to rumours about the institution propagated by a section of electronic and social media.
In a statement, university registrar K Arumugam said there were rumours that Annamalai University was a private deemed university and that the Supreme Court had ordered revision (upward or downward) of fees of MBBS and BDS courses.

Arumugam made it clear that Annamalai University is a state government university. He said the Supreme Court had directed the university to approach the fee fixation committee formed by the Tamil Nadu government and submit its audited accounts from 2013 to 2018 for fixing fees for the students of the Rajah Muthiah Medical and Dental College.

He said the committee would fix the fees for the academic year 2018-19 before August 31, 2018.

The registrar appealed to the public ‘not to believe any unauthorised propaganda and WhatsApp news, which undermine the status of the eminent university.
