VIJAYAWADA: In a horrific incident, a man brutally stabbed and murdered his brother-in-law at Railway Training Institute in Satyanarayanapuram area in the city on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Chadavada Raju (28), a railway gateman at Rajahmundry.

Speaking to TOI, in-charge deputy commissioner of police (L&O – II) Nawab Jaan said that Raju, who is from Nidadavolu town in West Godavari district came to Vijayawada to attend his training at the Railway Institute. The accused Kandepalli Shekhar (30), who is also a grade – I railway employee in Vijayawada approached him at the institute in his bike and stabbed him multiple times and fled the premises. By the time, locals could take him to Vijayawada Government General Hospital (GGH), Raju breathed his last.

Cops said that Shekhar married his elder sister Jyothsna four years ago and was allegedly harassing her. Jyothsna went to her mother’s place seven months ago as she was pregnant but remained there even after she gave birth to a daughter three months ago. Shekhar demanded Raju to send his wife back to his home which he refused.

Just few minutes before murdering Raju, Shekhar called his wife and informed her that he is going to murder him and that he is coming for her life next. Cops sent Raju’s body for post-mortem. A case under section 302 of IPC (murder) was registered by SN Puram police. Police have deployed a team to nab Shekhar who is absconding.
