Dowry: Man thrashes wife to death, detained

In a shocking incident, a person thrashed his wife to death allegedly over dowry demands at Tulinga under the Hemgir police station in the district.

Reports said Sushant Bhoi and his wife Liza, who were married four years ago, had an argument over dowry on Saturday night. In a fit of rage Sushant thrashed Liza severely. She was rushed to a hospital in a critical condition but she succumbed to the injuries.

Later, the family members of the deceased woman lodged a complaint with police alleging that Sushant murdered their daughter over dowry demands.

Police have detained the accused husband and questioning him.

It may be recalled here that a woman was allegedly burnt to death by her in-laws at Dingar village under the Begunia police station in Khordha district couple of days ago.
