Everton’s hopes of signing Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha have been ended by Roy Hodgson - the Eagles boss declaring that the £70m-rated forward is going nowhere for “the next four years.”

The Blues were one of a number of clubs tracking the 25-year-old Palace forward, along with Premier League rivals Tottenham and Bundelsiga outfit Borussia Dortmund.

But Palace boss Hodgson has ended any speculation, saying: “What people seem to forget with Wilf is he has got a four-year contract.

“There is speculation every year around Messi and Ronaldo too. He is our player for the next four years and the club has got no interest or desire to sell him.”

While Zaha is hardly in the Messi or Ronaldo class, he has nevertheless enjoyed an excellent spell with Palace since his frustrating move to Manchester United in 2014.

Zaha switched his international allegiances from England to Ivory Coast in November 2016 and made his debut in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
