Indore: Thieves decamp with cash, valuables worth lakhs


Indore: In a broad daylight incident, thieves targeted a locked house under Kanadiya police station jurisdiction and took away cash and other valuables worth lakhs from there on Saturday. The neighbours were also unaware about the incident.

According to Kanadiya police, the incident occurred in the house of Sunil Singh Chouhan in Manavta Nagar area. Chouhan in his complaint stated that he was employed as a supervisor in a private company and left home around 8.30 am for office. The theft incident was discovered when he reached home around 7 pm and he found the door locked from inside.

He was shocked to find the door locked from inside and informed his neighbours. Later, he reached the terrace of his house through neighbor’s house and found the rear door open. The thieves entered the house by breaking the door and took away Rs 85,000 and gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 4 to 5 lakh. Before leaving the spot, thieves locked the front door from inside.


Chouhan’s wife Hardeep told Free Press that she had gone to Mumbai to meet her daughter while her husband Sunil was in his office when the incident took place. Police have investigated the spot and registered a case. “We are examining CCTV footage to trace the accused,” the police said. Some suspects are also being questioned.
