Punjab Congress president and Lok Sabha MP from Gurdaspur Sunil Jakhar on Sunday said that the Congress party will highlight four years of failure of the Narendra Modi Government in the monsoon session of the Parliament, going to be started from July 18.

Jakhar said that the Central Government has lost more than four years of its tenure and now, the government has only six months to spare to work in the office, but the government of the ‘jumlas’ has done nothing to fulfill its election promises.

Saying that an election manifesto is a holy document for any political party, Jakhar said that the Modi government badly failed to achieve its goals, decided by itself own, in its manifesto for 2014 general elections.

“The government has virtually run away from the promises it made with the farmers because this government has already accepted its failure by fixing new deadline of 2022 for doubling the farmers’ income. The government has not done anything on issues like area specific crops and vegetable farming scheme, agricultural rail link and price stability fund,” he said.

On the issue of black money, Jakhar said that the BJP had made a lot of screaming before elections, “but after assuming the office, the Modi government has not done anything special and failed to bring black money back to the country”.

“BJP Government had enforced demonetization without proper planning in the country which badly affects the economy but still it failed to unearth any black money,” he said.

Talking about another poll promise of 20 million jobs every year, Jakhar said that NDA government did nothing and unemployment has increased many folds in last four years.

Similarly, the situation of weaker sections and minorities has worsened in the country in last four years. “Centre has illegally upheld more than Rs 1500 cores of SC scholarship of Punjab, which reflects real intentions of Modi Government for SC communities in the country,” he said.

“BJP promised to simplify the tax structure in country in its manifesto, but NDA Government has implemented GST in such complex way that it has proved lethal for the business and trade,” he said.
